Technology Advances at Frontier

Frontier Cooperative began using a computerized accounting system in the early 1990s. Frontier Cooperative Company has a MPLS network that allows for efficient and secure data transfer between locations. Throughout the Frontier Cooperative Company there are over 100 computers and over 50 telephone lines. Frontier Cooperative hosts various Internet Service Providers dishes and network equipment on it's elevators.

Agricultural Technology

The opportunity to gather, understand, utilize and layer data has been constantly upgraded year after year.  Today a grower has the opportunity to experience all types of technology that will help him retain significant gains towards the bottom line.  While utilizing the R7 tool, Frontier Cooperative offers the ability to gather and print harvest data, layer that data with satellite imagery throughout multiple growing seasons, and create a prescription planting file.  This allows growers to look at multiple years, and data points to plan for the next years approach.  This helps mitigate the most risk when dealing with the hand mother nature gives us.

Agronomy Technology

Frontier Cooperative offers a variety of industry leading agronomy technology opportunities that both pass cost and efficiency savings on to their patrons. One example is the multi bin, variable rate dry machine.  This machine not only allows precision placement of nutrients based on 2.5 acre grid sampling reports, but also allows the application of up to four separate products in one pass.  This creates an excellent opportunity to implement a fertility program that replaces removal rates from previous crops and creates a firm foundation for higher yields in the season to come.

Slingshot technology by Raven Industries is a technology that enables real time access to data files transferred between application equipment and the home base.  This allows unsurpassed speed and accuracy while applying multiple products throughout the entire growing season.

Seed Technology

Frontier continues to adpat and evolve with the changes and upgrades in both the corn hybrids and soybean varieties that are planted on today’s acres.  The trait pipeline is a prime example.  The introduction of RR2 technology has increased soybean yields at the farm gate. Soybean traits rapidly approaching farmers acres are both 2-4-D and dicamba resistance soybeans.  Significant corn advancement has been RIB technology. Refuge in a Bag provides producers with 95% protection combined with a 5% refuge solution. This technology offered in both Genuity SmartStax and VT2P technology seed corn from Monsanto allows everyone to be in compliance as they leave the seed shed. This new technology also allows multiple modes of action above and below ground to offer the widest spectrum of control all season.
