Frontier Cooperative is excited to participate in Nebraska's first "Fuel the Cure" Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. As October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the "Fuel the Cure" program will take place during the entire month.
"Fuel the Cure" is an opportunity to raise awareness for breast cancer by choosing cleaner-burning biofuel blends at the fuel pumps. Frontier Coop is one of 24 retailers statewide participating in the campaign in cooperation with the Nebraska Ethanol Board, Nebraska Corn Board, and Renewable Fuels Nebraska.
Frontier Coop will be donating $0.03 per gallon of fuel blends E15, E30, and E85 at RB’s Corner Stop located at 405 D Street in David City, Nebr. Proceeds benefit the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. The promotion will start October 1 and run through October 31, 2018.
“Motorists have a choice of biofuels that significantly reduce pollutants,” says Sarah Caswell, Nebraska Ethanol Board administrator. “Gasoline contains as many as 300 different chemicals. Many of these chemicals are used to increase octane – but some are known and suspected to cause cancer. Higher blends of biofuel dilute the level of toxic additives in our fuel, which helps reduce pollution and the threat to public health.”
Participating retailers will have pink handles on fuel pumps and signs for “Fuel the Cure.” Drivers will want to stay tuned throughout October, as some retailers may offer other discounts or special giveaways at their location. Representatives from the Nebraska Ethanol Board and Frontier Coop will be at RB’s Corner Stop on Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help promote the campaign.
When consumers choose higher ethanol blends at participating “Fuel the Cure” locations during October, they are not only supporting healthier fuel choices but also helping raise awareness and combat cancer.
