The Position:

As an IT Intern at Frontier Cooperative, an agricultural cooperative dedicated to supporting farmers and rural communities, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our IT department. This internship is designed to provide you with broad exposure to various aspects of information technology, offering a strong foundation for a future career in the field. 
 
You will work closely with experienced IT professionals and gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, system maintenance, user support, and project implementation. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn how technology supports agricultural operations, from grain management systems to precision farming tools and cooperative-wide communication platforms. 
 
This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys problem-solving, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You’ll be involved in both routine support tasks and special projects that contribute to the efficiency and security of our IT infrastructure. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Respond to help desk tickets and provide technical support to employees across departments 

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and deployment of hardware and software 

  • Support the maintenance of network systems, printers, and other peripherals 

  • Help manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls 

  • Monitor system performance and report issues proactively 

  • Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives, including endpoint protection and phishing awareness 

  • Collaborate on IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and process improvements 

  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, licenses, and service logs 

  • Learn and apply IT best practices in a real-world business environment 

  • Gain exposure to agricultural-specific technologies and systems used in cooperative operations 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field 

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows/macOS), and networking 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or similar productivity tools 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
