The Energy intern will work closely with a local Frontier Energy Advisor on energy activities and other assigned duties relating to energy sales. The selected candidate will help with the sale of Energy products (propane, diesel, gas, and lubricants) to growers, industrial companies, and home heat customers. This role will support the Frontier Energy business unit and assist with assigned projects.
The candidate will learn about the energy sales cycle, energy equipment (fuel tanks, fuel pumps, propane tanks, totes, etc.) and assist with installation of equipment when needed. This person will spend time learning how lubricants are applied to farming equipment (tractors, combines, etc.) and what options are available for customers.
This position requires time spent building customer relationships, such as helping with energy supply plans, and propane sales. The candidate will spend time marketing and represent Frontier Cooperative at trade events such as county fairs or parades. As the Energy Advisor Intern, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn, understand, and help promote Frontier’s Ultimate Acre System, which is systems approach proprietary to Frontier. This system ties all our business units together with the farm plan created by our ag advisors who receive year-round training about the system.
Job Skills and Requirements
- An interest in pursuing a degree in Agbusiness, marketing/sales, or management
- Ability to learn and navigate through Frontier’s digital platforms including but not limited to: Frontier Connect, Energy Force, FAT.
- Progressive mindset toward automotive and ag industry.
- Organizational skills, time management skills, ability to collaborate with a team, as well as work on projects solo
- Attention to detail and ability to take detailed notes
- Excellent communication skills (writing, polished verbal communication skills)
- A willingness to spend time learning about the cooperative system and each of the business units of Frontier Cooperative
- Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours if necessary or when possible
- The ability to work in a professional office environment
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel within our business footprint
- Flexibility to work outdoors and travel within territory.
- Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and constant change
